Eureka! I´ve finally found out how to make my cookies extra crunchy! Everytime I've tried to make cookies, I´ve followed the recipe to the letter but the cookies turned out softer than I wanted. But not this time! Well, I guess they would not get softer with time, but I had no time to check. I made kind of a test batch of a bit more than a dozen and they were all gone in less than 24 hours. No, I did not eat them all ... haha
So after this big success, I must share the recipe, which is mix of two or three different recipes. Here it goes.
INGREDIENTES / INGREDIENTS
(para 18 galletas / makes 18 cookies)
- 1 taza de harina / 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cucharadita de levadura / 1/2 teaspoon yeast
- 1/2 cucharadita de sal / 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 taza de mantequilla / 1/2 cup butter
- 1 taza azúcar moreno/ 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 huevo mediano / 1 medium sized egg
- 1 taza de perlitas de chocolate o chocolate negro troceado / 1 cup chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
En un cuenco grande, mezcla la harina, la levadura y la sal. Ablanda la mantequilla un poco en el microondas. En otro cuenco, mezcla la mantequilla con el azúcar. Añade el huevo y bate todo bien. Añade esta mezcla al primer cuenco, donde estaban los ingredientes secos, y mezcla todo. Añade el chocolate y vuelve a mezclar. Haz unas bolitas pequeñas, de unos 5cm y colócalas separadas en una bandeja de horno. Yo he puesto papel sulfurizado en la bandeja para que no se peguen. Hornea unos 30 minutos a 160-170ºC. Sí, este parece ser el truco. A mi, en 15 minutos a 175ºC como dicen todas las recetas, no me salen tan crujientes como me gusta. Listo! Pruébalas y no podrás parar :)
In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast and salt. Put the butter in the microwave for some seconds to soften it. In a second bowl, mix the butter with the sugar. Add an egg and beat the mixture. Place this mixture in the first bowl, where the dry ingredients, and mix it. Add the chocolate chips and mix it again. Make 5cm balls with the dough and place them separated on a baking pan. Bake them for 30 minutes at 160-170ºC. Yes, this seems to be the trick. I´ve never cookies this crunchy in 15 minutes at 175ºC as many recipes say. Done! Try them and you will not stop :)
